ABOUT ELIZABETH LEE

As an adjuvant*, I have explored self-healing as a life work since 1974 and I believe in the power of the individual to affect the whole.
I designed and earned a B.S. in Wholistic Health Sciences from Columbia Pacific University in 1985 (no longer certified) studied Pediatric Tui-na in Shanghai, China (1986), and certified students in Jamaican Foot Therapy. (1992-3)
Early on in my practice I observed that I could only do 8 or 9 sessions weekly and continue to love my work. I have kept that pace for 32 years. "Life is a Marathon, not a sprint." My studies (motivated by my adoption of Anya) began in nutrition that led me to a macrobiotic lifestyle for seven years while I avidly studied three different styles of Shiatsu Massage. Anya, whom I adopted in Popayan, Colombia as a baby had many developmental problems and through this motivation I discovered my talents for massage with a German Master. I took classes on the weekend, cleaned houses during the week and took Anya with me.
Chinese Medicine came next for me and I worked with this concept for 12 years even giving up my practice to garden to better embody the 5-element theory. Later I assumed what I believe to be a more North American native regime and continue to pursue that path through Biodynamics and native herbals and oils.
Many of my clients have been extremely intelligent, savvy in their fields of psychiatry, education, social services, and counseling. I credit them hugely for my education through their willingness to pursue health and share that journey with me. Change is definitely easier if the emotional work is in process.
To better understand human perception I studied Neuro-Linguistic Programming in 1977. My love affair with Milton Erickson (the master of hypnotherapy, etc.) is as sincere today. I just went to Virginia Beach this past fall and studied Clinical Hypnotherapy with the Hypnosis Center of Virginia. It was wonderful for me to experience new words that explain many of my experiences.
For the past few years I've been fascinated by the neurology of the human body and the study of right/left brain processing. I work ambidextrously and use yoga, tai chi, and walking to rejuvenate my body.
Continuing on the personal note I am a single adoptive mother of two grown children, Anya is now 38 and Ricky is 24. Step-mother to Chris and being Grama is a role I'm enjoying like no other. Samantha (14) has come to Grama's for the summer in the country, but now interested in her friends, as should be. Grandson Nicholas is six (6) and I'm planning a cross-country trip with him this spring....Nicholas, Sweetie and Me. I was the doula for my daughter for both my grandchildren.
I began visiting Rappahannock County in the early 1980's while living in Middleburg, Virginia and I knew almost immediately that I didn't want to live any where else in all of America, it called to me so very clearly. I have maintained my private practice on Historic Main St., in Sperryville, Virginia since 1997. And now, 2011 and I'm looking for someone to take over the care of the house. My head is turned toward teaching. And traveling, now that I have my little home on wheels I hope I'll get to travel more, play more ALL Games and meet more of the beautiful 'indigo' children on the planet.
*An Adjuvant is an assistant to the healing process. Whether facilitating physical fitness, mental equilibrium or spiritual awareness, an adjuvant primarily heals one's self and assists others secondarily, to the level of his/her ability without attachment to outcome.
