The Recovery Room
  Assisted Living up to 24/7 Nursing Care

Hello,  I'm Elizabeth Lee and I've been a Bioholistic Practitioner since 1974.   I'm going to give you a tour through the possibilities of The Recovery Room, and for people looking for help in recovering from illness (including drug addiction), injury, surgery, chemotherapy or others who are looking for elder care in a warm, kind and supportive home environment.
I work very closely with primary care physicians, family and friends to create the best possible environment.   Theresa Smallwood, a Holistic Nurse Practitioner, from The Plains, VA is my special consultant.  Theresa and I have had a lot of experience taking care of elders who pass and even more experiences with people who recover, over 70 years of experience together.

WE ARE OFFERING;
 Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Care which will always include the following basic services:  laundry, room cleaning, local organic food prepared to taste, assistance to appointments and social visits with basic physical therapy.  Also the staff will keep a record of all activities.  We suggest that a family member, or guardian keep a nanny cam in the room viewing at their preferred time.
Perhaps you or your loved one has advanced beyond this stage of assisted living, into what we call Intermediate Care.  If a person is recovering from surgery or trauma injury we could expect that the patient will come to us needing more care, such as help bathing, help with feeding and toilet.  If possible they will be given a buzzer or monitor, but if this not sufficient regular checks and/or a live-in would have to be organized.  If instead of a trauma patient, who recovers relatively quickly, perhaps the patient moves toward the end of life and 24/7 care.  If you or your loved one wishes to stay with us for the final dance, we welcome you to do so.

:
There is a window to the East for bright mornings, there is a window to the South for afternoon showers of sunshine.  Roman shades provide a possibility of creating the environment.  Inside you will see living greens and flowers.  There's lovely very functional parlor woodstove. There will be always a clarity (read fresh) to the (private wheelchair accessible) bathroom, extra supplies being stored in the second room which serves as a foyer with storage behind the staircase.

There is cable TV, private telephone, wireless internet connect.

MORE GUEST ROOMS:
We have an another room (with a private bath) for visitors so that you can stay in the same house, but up the stairs.  This room is called the Master Suite.  There is also a Family Suite.  All family members would be welcome.  We think it is very important for elders to continue to engage in social events as long as possible. It is possible to walk or get fresh air in a wheelchair.   And there are many destinations that are easy to manage in the village.
Sperryville is a small rural Virginia village nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the sunrise side.  And although life is slow, we have the opportunity to have many wonderful movies, cards, theatre productions, drum circles, tai chi, yoga, massage, herbalists, and on.  The front porches give an opportunity for some serious sitting.  Something we are kin to do here.
Yes, we know it is wonderful to have family that can take care of you.  But it is important to remember just  because you are getting old or are needing assistance to recover, your family members don't magically become nurses.  If the family is there, if the situation exists that allows an elder to be provided for at home, wonderful.  But not always the best solution for numerous reasons.
We only have one RECOVERY room right now.  Maybe we'll have two within the next year.  But we'll never get big.  That's the whole idea.  ; )

COSTS;  Basic Care starts at $3000 /mo additional care costs will be added and agreed upon as a standard or less pay per hour for services.  AARP now has an insurance that pays for 'at home' care up to 24/7.  That can work here too.  See AARP Long Term Care.
